Over the past 3 years, the commercial real estate industry has experienced immense change. This is mostly, if not fully, due to the rapid introduction of PropTech solutions. While these new tools are designed to deliver increased efficiency and value to their users, they can sometimes cause the opposite effect. New technology like this often comes with questions like, how will this affect the bottom line of the business, and when is the right time to invest? Luckily for us, there’s an event to help us navigate this change: NYC Real Estate Tech Week 2019.

Now in its fourth year, NYC Real Estate Tech Week will be bigger than ever. This year’s event will take place on November 11th to the 15th at various locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. With a packed agenda and over 3,500 attendees from 40+ countries, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, especially with all the opportunities to get involved. Here’s how you can squeeze every bit of value out of the week-long event.

What to Expect

Under the NYC Real Estate Tech Week umbrella are 12 different events serving various audiences. However, the primary goal of the week is to help the community understand how PropTech is shaping the future of the industry. Whether you are looking to be more strategic about investments, understand the PropTech landscape more clearly, or simply make more connections in the industry, there is an event for you. Here is a breakdown of the key events and new launches to add to your schedule:

Add These to Your Schedule

MIPIM PropTech NYC – As the flagship event of the week, MIPIM Proptech NYC brings together a world-class roster of speakers for their two-day event. This will connect real estate leaders from all sectors with breakthrough technology companies to bring their businesses to the next level.

Propmodo: Building the Future – As the week’s kick-off event, Propmodo’s show will examine the trends and technologies leading the change.

ASDFair PropTech Career Fair – This is the first ever career fair solely dedicated to the best in class talent in the PropTech sector. This is a must for companies looking to add top talent to their team.

Nordic PropTech Showcases – Hosted by the consulate general of Finland, this event will showcase the top PropTech startups in the Nordic region. This event fully demonstrates how PropTech is not just a U.S. trend, but a global necessity.

Women in PropTech Awards Gala – This is the first-ever award ceremony celebrating the women that are contributing to the industry across 6 different categories. Check out the list of finalists here.

The Opening of PropTech Place – Metaprop has launched a one-of-a-kind co-working space for individuals and teams that are focused on PropTech. While you’re in New York City, request a tour of the space here.

Get the Most Out of Your Week

When it comes to being successful at NYC Real Estate Tech Week, according to Evan Petitt, it comes down to this: do your prep! Petitt, Director of Community at Metaprop, the event’s organizer, urges attendees to have set objectives before entering the week. Knowing what you want to accomplish and the events that best fit these objectives will ensure your success. Review the full schedule of events beforehand, and build a communication plan that works for your team. For increased exposure, join the conversations happening on social by monitoring the event hashtag: #NYCRETECHWEEK.
